The Sabah state government has cancelled Malaysia Day celebrations at Padang Merdeka due to severe weather and disaster conditions affecting at least seven districts. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor emphasized that the priority is crisis management and rescue operations.

Flash floods, landslides, and power outages have impacted both the west and east coasts, with two confirmed fatalities. The State Disaster Management Committee, led by Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong, is on full alert and holding continuous meetings. Hajiji urged the public to stay vigilant and follow safety advisories as recovery efforts intensify across the state.
