PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced he will not seek the Prime Minister’s post in GE16, citing age and health concerns. At 78, Hadi said leadership requires strength, knowledge, and integrity, and PAS will nominate someone younger.

He emphasized that many PAS members are qualified but prefer to stay out of the spotlight due to the weight of responsibility. Hadi also criticized the “Malaysia Madani” slogan, calling it misleading and lacking direction.
He assured that non-Muslims would not be sidelined if PAS led the government. Bersatu recently named Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as its PM candidate for GE16.
