KUALA KANGSAR, Sept 15 — A Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) student was killed and her sister critically injured after their car overturned and was struck by a lorry on the North-South Expressway northbound today.
Overturned car Smashed
The victim, 21-year-old L. Nimala Shangkeri, was a passenger in a Nissan Almera driven by her 27-year-old sister. Police said the car lost control in the right lane, skidded left, crashed into a guardrail, and overturned. A lorry travelling in the left lane could not brake in time and rammed into the overturned vehicle.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant operations director Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said emergency teams received a distress call at 8.10am. The injured driver was rushed to hospital while Nimala was pronounced dead at the scene.
