JOHOR BARU | Motorists entering Singapore via the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) checkpoints can soon enjoy faster clearance under a new pilot programme starting Sept 22. The initiative, part of the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe), allows drivers to scan a generated QR code at dedicated lanes instead of waiting for manual counter checks. State Infrastructure, Transport and Communication Committee chairman Mohd Fazli Salleh said the system is expected to cut waiting times and smoothen travel flow.
MyNIISe, QR code, faster travel
To use the system, motorists must register on the MyNIISe platform to generate a QR code tied to their travel details. At the checkpoints, the code will be scanned at QR-enabled gates, which automatically verify passport and vehicle data against immigration records before lifting the barrier for clearance. The trial aims to gauge efficiency and public response ahead of full implementation.
