Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution has urged Malaysians to check and replace faulty MyKad chips to ensure eligibility for the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy, set to launch by end-September.
RON95 Subsidy, MyKad Chip Must Work
The initiative requires identity verification via MyKad at petrol stations. Faulty chips can be replaced same-day at any NRD office. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously announced the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, reaffirming his commitment to deliver on promises.
Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah noted that MyKad-based verification was chosen for its apparent success in distributing aid under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah scheme.
