Concertgoers in Malaysia are urged to dress modestly, behave respectfully, and avoid disruptive acts under updated guidelines by the Communications Ministry. Deputy secretary-general Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin stressed that the rules aim to protect cultural and religious sensitivities while ensuring safe and enjoyable events. The guidelines, issued through Puspal, prohibit weapons, alcohol, drugs, political or religious signs at venues.
Dress modestly and behave
Attendees may be removed for offensive slogans, instigating religious sentiments, or throwing objects. While “appropriate attire” is not strictly defined, immodest or revealing clothing is banned. Performers must also comply, with rules against cross-dressing, excessive exposure, or clothing removal on stage. Large concerts exceeding 5,000 attendees cannot take place on Islamic public holidays without approval. Organisers are required to brief artistes beforehand.
