WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced Saturday he will nominate senior White House aide Lindsey Halligan as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, a day after the office’s top prosecutor, Erik Siebert, resigned under political pressure.
Trump said Halligan “will be Fair, Smart, and will provide… JUSTICE FOR ALL,” underscoring his push for Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue cases against political rivals, including New York Attorney General Letitia James.

The nomination follows turmoil within the Virginia office, where administration officials pressed for charges against James in a mortgage fraud probe, though prosecutors have found no incriminating evidence.
