KOTA BHARU: Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat has suggested that girls involved in statutory cases also face charges alongside adult men. He argued that nearly 90 percent of cases were consensual, based on investigations. Yusoff said current laws unfairly place the burden solely on men, despite both parties being willing.

His remarks followed rising incidents of sexual offences in Kelantan. Previously, Bukit Aman’s Women and Child Investigation Division noted that many cases stemmed from online grooming, where young victims were lured through social media interactions before meeting perpetrators in person. Authorities stress education and awareness to combat such exploitation.
