An X user recently made an observation that the value of money has dropped more than what we think it has. This is due to the fact that we as consumers have normalised silly things to cost more than what it should be. Apparently, it is somewhat normal for people to purchase RM80 key chains.

Has the value of money declined?

RM20 for a drink at a restaurant, RM50 meals are also another problem we see constantly. Furthermore, others add that those trending labubu bag charms, or keychains, can cost up to RM200.

Others are calling out some local brands that are using China products and re-labeling them as Malaysian products. Additionally, a significant price hike would’ve been endured in the local branding’s products.

Regardless, it is entirely up to the consumers if they’re comfortable with normalising these trends. If you’re buying these items, it would mean that they’d continue on selling as per normal.
