KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Malaysians with damaged MyKad chips can replace them free of charge starting tomorrow until October 7, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced. The National Registration Department (JPN) initiative supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s launch of the Budi95 targeted fuel subsidy.
Free MyKad replacement for Budi95
Between January and August, JPN recorded 294,715 damaged card replacement applications, with numbers rising monthly. Based on recent averages, the programme is expected to cost the government RM714,660. Saifuddin said the move ensures eligible citizens can access Budi95 subsidies without disruption. He urged Malaysians to maintain their MyKad in good condition, describing it as both an identification document and a key to government benefits.
