PUTRAJAYA, Sept 23 — The Communications Ministry clarified that new guidelines issued by its Puspal unit focus on performing artistes’ dress codes, not concertgoers. The clarification followed a report suggesting broader restrictions on audience attire. Puspal said recommendations for concertgoers were advisory, aimed at encouraging behaviour and dress suitable for Malaysia’s multiracial sensitivities.

Concertgoers not impacted

Deputy secretary-general Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin noted that while organisers and performers are the main focus, organisers also hold responsibility for audience conduct. Organisers must also manage alcohol and drug use to ensure safety. Further details are available on Puspal’s official website.
