Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s office has rejected allegations by Seputeh Umno that its members were sidelined in appointments to the Federal Territories Residents’ Representative Council (MPPWP) for the constituency. In a joint statement, Kok’s political secretary Alice Choo and MPPWP Seputeh chairperson Alice Lan described the claims as “unreasonable and unfair.” They explained that the appointment process was carried out transparently, guided by Federal Territories Ministry procedures, and based on performance and service records.
Umno Claims
The duo stressed that the MP’s office holds the prerogative in council appointments, as mandated by the ministry. They also highlighted that Umno-led associations and religious institutions in Seputeh have long received allocations to support community activities. Representation, they added, included Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, residents’ groups, and NGOs.
