AirAsia is in talks with a local partner in Vietnam as part of its plan to expand across Asean, CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes confirmed. While no agreement has been finalized, Fernandes expressed optimism about entering one of the region’s most promising markets.
AirAsia Eying Vietnam Entry
The airline is also exploring opportunities in Laos and Brunei, leaving only Myanmar and Singapore without AirAsia operations. Fernandes reiterated his goal to establish a presence in as many Asean countries as possible before stepping down.
If successful, AirAsia Vietnam would join Vietjet and Pacific Airlines as the third low-cost carrier in the Vietnamese market.
