KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has pledged to appoint a Chinese deputy chief minister if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) retains power in the coming state election. Speaking at Hakka Hall, he praised the Chinese community’s longstanding contributions to Sabah’s economy and development, noting past appointments of Chinese experts and advisers in key fields.

Hajiji also announced that Sabah will officially recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), allowing holders access to state scholarships and entry into state-run higher institutions. He further revealed that financial aid for mission and independent schools, temples, and non-Muslim religious bodies will rise from RM70 million to RM90 million next year.
“This government strives to ensure fair treatment for all communities,” Hajiji stressed.
