PETALING JAYA, Sept 25 — Police have referred their investigation into the death of Dr Shintumathi Mutusamy to the Coroner’s Court, recommending an inquest. Her family’s lawyer, Mahajoth Singh of Abd Halim Ushah & Associates, confirmed receiving a letter from Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar dated Aug 26, stating that investigation papers were forwarded to the Shah Alam Coroner’s Court in May.
Dr Shintumathi’s Death
Shintumathi was found dead in her condominium on Oct 8, 2023. A post-mortem cited “inhalation asphyxia by compressed gas and plastic bag” as the cause of death, but a separate document described the circumstances as suspicious. Mahajoth said this contradiction, combined with the lack of police updates despite 28 reports, justified an inquest. The family awaits confirmation on when proceedings will begin.
