Malaysia Eyes Regional Film Exchange Under Fahmi’s ASEAN Initiative

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil will initiate talks with ASEAN counterparts to expand regional opportunities for Malaysian films, following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s directive to boost international reach.

Fahmi said discussions will address distribution challenges and explore reciprocal film exchanges. The government has allocated RM31 million under the Creative Content Fund, supporting 116 productions and creating over 2,600 jobs.

Fahmi cited the success of Woo Ming Jin’s The Fox King as proof of Malaysia’s global potential. He expressed confidence that these efforts will strengthen the local creative industry and open new doors across Southeast Asia.
