KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, In a phone call with US President Donald Trump, looked very happy. While he reaffirmed Malaysia’s proactive role as ASEAN Chair in promoting regional peace, following its success in facilitating a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

Trump praised Malaysia’s efforts, calling the ceasefire a “major achievement” that reflects ASEAN’s resilience. Anwar expressed appreciation for US support and highlighted the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Putrajaya from October 26–28 as a platform to strengthen cooperation. Analysts note Malaysia’s active diplomacy underscores its ambition to position ASEAN as a stabilising force in Southeast Asia.
