UDON THANI, Sept 22 — A 60-year-old woman, Mei, travelled 560km from Bangkok to Udon Thani to propose marriage to a 44-year-old man, Ta. Carrying luggage filled with clothes, Mei spoke about marriage and even suggested sperm donation. Ta, a former banker who now sells puppies online, said he had no idea who she was.

A prolonged standoff ensued outside his home, forcing police intervention. Mei eventually returned to Bangkok. Ta revealed the woman had appeared at his house twice before, but described this incident as the “worst attempt yet.” He urged her family to seek medical help, saying he feared for his safety.
