WASHINGTON, Sept 26 — US President Donald Trump declared he would not permit Israel to annex the West Bank, rejecting threats from Israeli cabinet members opposed to a two-state solution. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump confirmed he had told Arab leaders during UN meetings that annexation would not be allowed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to block a Palestinian state.

Meanwhile far-right allies push for annexation following recent recognitions of Palestine by Western nations. Trump said he had spoken with Netanyahu and regional leaders, insisting “it’s time to stop now.” He also voiced optimism about progress toward a Gaza deal, aiming to end the conflict and secure the release of hostages held by Hamas.
