KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has dismissed claims that paracetamol use during pregnancy and vaccines cause autism. Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab said strong international studies consistently show no link between vaccines and autism.

On paracetamol, he noted it remains one of the safest pain and fever relief options during pregnancy when used at the lowest effective dose. MOH also cautioned against unverified treatments such as folinic acid (leucovorin), saying current evidence is limited to small studies and more large-scale trials are needed. The ministry urged the public to rely on medical advice and assured continued monitoring of medication and vaccine safety in Malaysia.
