PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has warned Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim that ties with his former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, could expose the government to 1MDB-style pitfalls. He says if this is not addressed properly, it may go overboard. Speaking on his Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast, Rafizi stressed that public perception of corruption has worsened.
1MDB-Like Risks
He cited a survey showing one in three Malaysians view it as a major issue. This is up from just eight percent in 2022. He said concerns stem from the role of MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki and recent allegations involving Farhash, including controversial mining licences in Sabah. Rafizi drew parallels to Jho Low’s role in the 1MDB scandal, warning that unchecked influence could erode Harapan’s anti-corruption stance.
