GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A gunman stormed a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on Sunday, killing two and injuring eight before police fatally shot him. Authorities said the attacker, identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford from Burton, rammed his pickup into the church entrance, opened fire, and set the building ablaze.

Police responded within seconds, engaging and killing the suspect outside. Hundreds of worshippers had been inside at the time. One victim remains in critical condition, while seven are stable. The motive remains unclear as investigators search the suspect’s residence.
