Penang Gerakan Youth chief Tan Zhen Zune has urged the party not to remain silent against criticisms from its Perikatan Nasional ally, PAS. Speaking at the state Gerakan AGM, Tan warned that silence would erode members’ confidence and urged Gerakan to prove it can be a balancing voice for non-Muslims within PN.

He also suggested the party reconsider contesting under its own flag after repeated election losses under the PN banner. Tan criticised Gerakan’s “Chai Yok” slogan as confusing and called for greater youth engagement amid the lowering of the national youth age cap.
