KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — About 16 million Malaysians began receiving benefits today under the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) initiative, which lowers petrol prices to RM1.99 per litre from RM2.05. Eligible individuals can enjoy up to 300 litres monthly.
Budi95 Petrol Subsidy
The programme, first rolled out to military and police personnel on Sept 27, expanded to over five million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients on Sunday.
According to the Finance Ministry, early adoption was strong, with millions spent on RON95 purchases. Budi95 requires only a MyKad or driving licence for verification, and subsidy savings will fund education, healthcare, and social development.
