The Malaysian Embassy in Bahrain has celebrated the nation’s UNESCO-recognised breakfast heritage with a special dining event at The Gulf Hotel. Guests were treated to nasi lemak, roti canai and teh tarik—three dishes officially inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity last December. Ambassador Datuk Shazryll Zahiran said the showcase highlighted Malaysia’s unique culinary identity, offering Bahrainis a taste of the country’s culture and hospitality.

The programme also featured traditional performances, including a Dondang Sayang dance, while the kebaya—also UNESCO-listed—was presented. With nine elements now recognised globally, Malaysia’s cultural heritage continues to stand as both a national treasure and a symbol of unity across its diverse society.
