KOTA KINABALU, Oct 2 – Sabah STAR has officially pulled out of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), citing its objection to the coalition’s planned electoral pact with Pakatan Harapan. Party president Dr Jeffrey Kitingan confirmed he had informed the GRS presidential council of the decision, stressing STAR’s preference for the coalition to contest solo.

The withdrawal comes after GRS leaders, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, held a dinner meeting to discuss seat allocations for the upcoming state election. Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), headed by Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee, is also expected to follow suit. Sabah STAR, with six assemblymen, holds significant influence in non-Muslim native constituencies.
