Malaysia and Qatar have formalised a strategic defence cooperation agreement aimed at deepening collaboration in military and regional security matters. Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the pact was concluded during his two-day official visit to Doha last week, marking a milestone in bilateral relations. The agreement covers areas such as defence industry development, intelligence sharing, and knowledge exchange on the Indo-Pacific and Middle East regions.

“This enhances mutual trust and allows both countries to benefit from shared expertise and strategic insights,” Khaled said during a community event in Kota Tinggi. He also held bilateral meetings and visited Barzan Holdings, Qatar’s state-owned defence industry firm, during the trip.
