Trump Floats Tariff Rebates
The proposal coincides with a Supreme Court case next month that will determine whether Trump had legal authority to impose global tariffs. If ruled illegal, the government may need to refund up to $1 trillion.
Treasury data shows $214.9 billion in tariff revenue so far this year. Any rebate plan would require congressional approval, echoing past stimulus efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
