MANCHESTER, Oct 5 — Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim praised his side’s maturity and defensive strength after a hard-fought victory over Sunderland. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens produced a standout display, recording the highest number of “goals prevented” while keeping a clean sheet by a United goalkeeper since September 2024.

Amorim said the performance reflected a “competitive and adult team,” crediting Lammens for his composure under pressure. Rising star Benjamin Sesko continued his fine form, scoring his second goal in as many games. “When we’re not playing well, we’re defending well,” Amorim told BBC Sport. “It wasn’t perfect, but we were focused and disciplined. These are the kind of wins that build confidence and consistency.” On Sesko: “He has time, he’s going to stay here for a lot of years.”
