KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is developing an online system called “eBaki” to sell expired and inactive vehicle registration numbers.
According to the Auditor-General’s Report 2024, the initiative is part of JPJ’s digital system development project and is expected to go live in October 2026.

From 2022 to 2024, JPJ collected RM1.65 billion from plate sales, with an additional RM115.96 million potential revenue identified from unsold and blocked numbers.
As of 2024, 375,792 expired and 134 blocked numbers remain available, priced between RM300 and RM20,000, plus a RM10 service fee.
