Malaysia reaffirmed its appreciation for Pakistani professionals, workers, and students contributing to bilateral ties, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said during a joint press conference with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Malaysia & Pakistan Pledge Deeper Ties
The leaders pledged to deepen cooperation in defence, agriculture, energy, and technology. Anwar emphasized Malaysia’s political stability as a foundation for stronger collaboration. The visit reciprocates Anwar’s 2024 trip to Pakistan and marks growing strategic engagement.
Both leaders discussed regional peace and counter-terrorism. Bilateral trade rose 25.5% to RM8.07 billion in 2024. Malaysia and Pakistan have shared diplomatic ties since 1957, elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2019.
