Man and Two Women Detained for Khalwat in Johor Hotel Raid

A man in his 30s was detained by Johor’s Religious Department (JAINJ) for suspected khalwat after being found in a hotel room with two women in their 20s. The man initially claimed the women had entered to use the bathroom due to nearby facilities being closed.

However, the room was registered under his name, and both women admitted they were friends and had been invited. JAINJ officers noted the bed was in disarray. All three were charged under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Offences Enactment 1997. JAINJ also warned of social media’s influence and urged parental vigilance.
