KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Over 80 Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) participants detained at Israel’s Ketziot Prison were denied medical care and basic needs, said the Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (Adalah). The group documented abuses including denial of medication, insufficient food and water, and overcrowded, unsanitary cells. Some detainees were blindfolded, handcuffed, and beaten during interrogation, while others were barred from praying or contacting families.
Flotilla Detainees Abused
Adalah said 11 Tunisian detainees began a hunger strike to protest their treatment. Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir praised the harsh actions, calling the detainees “terror supporters.” Adalah condemned the remarks as proof of state-endorsed abuse and demanded the activists’ release and safe repatriation.
