Kelantan’s Social Welfare Department (JKM) will add 20 temporary relief centres this flood season, raising the total to 459. Deputy director Md Yani Mat Zin said the move anticipates floods in new areas beyond usual hotspots like Kuala Krai and Kota Bharu.
JKM Prepares for Wider Flood Impact
Over 400 JKM personnel are on standby, with each centre staffed by nine officers and supported by district-level committees. The centres can accommodate up to 172,400 evacuees. Meanwhile, Petronas Foundation contributed RM340,000 to 1,700 underprivileged Indian families for Deepavali, including food baskets for 100 Kelantan families—part of its ongoing commitment to festive welfare nationwide.
