Since 2019, Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has suspended or is in the process of suspending 562 commercial vehicle operator licences under its Safety Inspection and Audit (JISA) programme.
JPJ Suspends Over 500 Licenses
Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed a total of 665 enforcement actions, including revoked licences, terminated permits, and issued warnings. JPJ has conducted 7,228 audits nationwide to ensure compliance with safety standards.
With over 48,000 registered operators and 372,000 licensed vehicles, the ministry aims to reduce heavy vehicle accidents. Operators must meet seven ICOP provisions, including GPS monitoring, safety officers, and emergency plans. Surprise inspections will continue to uphold road safety.
