Malaysia’s worker productivity rose by 2.4% in 2024, reaching RM99,265 per worker, up from RM96,914 the previous year. Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong attributed the growth to technological adoption and automation in the manufacturing sector.

He cited the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which targets 3,000 smart factories and aims to reduce reliance on foreign labour. Key initiatives include the Productivity Nexus across 14 sectors and the Smart Tech-Up programme, building on Industry4WRD.
The NIMP Strategic Co-Investment Fund offers blended financing for high-impact projects. These efforts reflect Malaysia’s push to transform its industrial landscape and boost long-term economic competitiveness.
