Malaysia’s Ministry of Education is rolling out sweeping reforms to improve student safety and discipline, including a proposed Anti-Bullying Bill under a tribunal system. Since August, safety audits have been conducted in 735 schools, and new SOPs for bullying and misconduct have been introduced.
7,681 Bullying Incidents Prompting Reforms
The MADANI Generation programme will embed character-building into the 2027 curriculum. With bullying cases rising to 7,681 in 2024, the ministry is expanding hostel warden staffing, launching anonymous complaint channels, and appointing peer mentors.
Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh stressed that tackling bullying requires collective action from schools, families, and communities to shape a morally resilient generation.
