KUALA LUMPUR – Kampung Sungai Baru has never been gazetted as part of the Malay Agricultural Settlement (MAS) or designated as Malay reserve land, the Federal Territories Ministry confirmed. Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said a review by the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office found the land was formed in 1967 after a Klang River straightening project and lies outside the 219.91-acre MAS area.

She added that the land, now under private and developer ownership, cannot be gazetted without unanimous consent from all landowners. The clarification ends confusion over the village’s legal and historical status.
