RM2,500 income tax relief for home food grinders, CCTVs

PETALING JAYA: The government is set to widen individual income tax relief to encourage Malaysians to adopt more sustainable and secure lifestyles.

Under the proposal, taxpayers will be able to claim up to RM2,500 for purchases such as household food waste grinders and home CCTV systems.

The Finance Ministry said the initiative aims to promote green technology use and enhance home safety through smart systems.

The expanded relief will apply from the year of assessment 2026 to 2027.
