KUALA LUMPUR — Umno president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he recently met with MIC and MCA leaders several times, stressing that both parties remain key partners in Barisan Nasional (BN).
He said research showed the grassroots of both parties do not wish to leave BN, despite speculation over their future in the coalition. “Some figures may need ‘toys’, and when they don’t get them, they start stomping their feet,” Zahid told Mingguan Malaysia.
MIC-MCA-BN conflict
Zahid described the situation as normal family disagreements within BN and insisted it did not weaken the coalition’s unity. He added that MIC and MCA had earlier declined government posts when the unity government was formed.
