KOTA TINGGI: A 21-year-old man’s joy over his newly purchased Volkswagen Golf turned to tragedy when he was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the Senai–Desaru Expressway yesterday.
Muhammad Hafizhan Hanafi Norhaizal, who bought the car just a week ago, died alongside his two friends, Fazrizal Izuan Zuhaimi, 20, and Muhammad Abdul Khalid Ab Rashid, 19, when their vehicle collided with a Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V at Kilometre 56.

His sister Nurmariana Irwayu, 25, said Hafizhan had excitedly shared photos of his car with the family and planned to surprise them this month.
“He sent us pictures of the steering wheel, so happy with his purchase. We never thought it would be his last,” she said tearfully.
