PETALING JAYA — Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi has defended party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi against criticism from former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker, who accused Zahid of tarnishing Barisan Nasional’s image. Puad said Zahid had led BN to victories in Johor, Melaka, Pahang, and Perak, proving his leadership remained effective.

He argued MCA’s poor performance in the last two general elections reflected its own weaknesses, not Zahid’s. Responding to Ti’s claim that BN had lost credibility due to corruption cases involving Umno leaders, Puad said MCA should “revitalise itself” instead of blaming others. He added that DAP should not be scapegoated for MCA’s failures within the current unity government.
