KUALA LUMPUR – Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan slammed the Madani government for turning Malaysia into a “Negara Jibayah,” claiming it relies excessively on public taxation to sustain spending. Speaking in Parliament, he said citizens have been squeezed by new and higher taxes over the past three years, including the SST hike and fuel subsidy cuts.

He urged a shift towards the Islamic-inspired “Negara Hidayah” model, where wealth is distributed through state-managed resources rather than constant tax collection. Citing Quranic examples, he said leaders should fund development from national assets, not public pockets. He also questioned privatisation of key sectors, calling for state control over essential services like water, transport, and food.
