U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit Malaysia on October 26 to witness a potential ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan announced that both nations, with support from Malaysia and the U.S., aim to sign the Kuala Lumpur Accord during the ASEAN summit from October 26–28.

The agreement would require the removal of mines and heavy artillery along their disputed 817-km border. July’s deadly five-day conflict left 48 dead and displaced hundreds of thousands. Mohamad emphasized the importance of lasting peace and regional stability, calling the summit a critical moment for Southeast Asia.
