SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday declared a “tremendous day for the Middle East” after signing a declaration with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to cement a ceasefire in Gaza. The agreement followed a mass exchange of hostages and prisoners between Israel and Hamas, marking the official end of two years of conflict.

At a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, leaders pledged to pursue “lasting peace and shared prosperity” across the region. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hailed the deal as closing “a painful chapter in human history.” Earlier in Jerusalem, Trump praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said the ceasefire signaled the end of “a long and painful nightmare” for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
