The Malaysian government and 1MDB have recovered RM20.71 billion in settlements from Goldman Sachs (US$3.9 billion), AmBank Group (RM2.83 billion), and JP Morgan (Switzerland) Ltd (RM1.4 billion).

Malaysia Recovers RM20.71 Billion in 1MDB Settlements

The Finance Ministry confirmed all funds were received and deposited into the Asset Recovery Trust Account. However, Goldman Sachs has initiated arbitration proceedings in London over disputed obligations under the 2020 settlement agreement.

Malaysia’s legal team, including the Attorney General’s Chambers and King’s Counsel, is handling the case. Due to confidentiality clauses, further details remain undisclosed. The ministry shared this update in response to a parliamentary question from Yeo Bee Yin on asset recovery.
