Several opposition MPs proposed that Malaysia Airlines replace alcoholic drinks with traditional Malaysian beverages such as sirap bandung, cendol, and ais batu campur (ABC). The suggestion was raised during the debate on the Supply Bill 2026, with MPs arguing that most passengers do not consume alcohol and that serving it contradicts local values.
Cendol, NO Alcohol
They added that airlines like Saudi Airlines and Royal Brunei succeed without offering alcohol. One MP also cited past incidents involving drunk passengers disrupting flights, saying the change would enhance safety and cultural pride. Another MP highlighted that Muslim flight attendants face discomfort serving alcohol, urging the airline to adopt a more ethical and inclusive approach.
