New: Dad of Slain Schoolgirl Urges Public to Stop Spreading False Rumours

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The family of 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen, who was fatally stabbed at her Bandar Utama school, has urged the public to stop circulating false information online. Her stepfather, How Boon Chin, said social media rumours — including fabricated claims of rape — have deeply hurt the grieving family.

Yap’s mother, Wong Lee Ping, also denied false allegations linking her brother to the suspect, confirming he has lodged a police report. Police investigations continue, with Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar stating the suspect, 14, had not confessed romantic feelings toward the victim. Yap was described as a disciplined student and avid volleyball player. The suspect remains remanded until Oct 21.
