Driver Dies After Electric Car Catches Fire in Chengdu Crash

A man was killed after his Xiaomi SU7 electric car caught fire following a high-speed crash in Chengdu, Sichuan. Police said the 31-year-old driver, surnamed Deng, was suspected of driving under the influence when he collided with another vehicle early Monday.

The car reportedly struck a green belt, spun into the opposite lane and burst into flames. Witnesses said bystanders attempted to help but were unable to reach the driver before fire crews arrived. Firefighters later used tools to access the vehicle, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and the fire’s rapid spread.
