Singapore’s Home Affairs Ministry has accused Malaysia’s Islamist party PAS of contradicting itself and attempting to interfere in the city-state’s 2025 general election. The ministry said PAS’ defence of its leaders’ online support for a Workers’ Party candidate conflicts with its earlier statement distancing the party from those remarks.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, however, rejected the accusation, calling it an attempt to use PAS as a “bogeyman” for local politics. He added that labelling cross-border commentary as interference was unrealistic in a digitally connected world. Singapore reiterated that foreign political involvement in its elections is unacceptable.
